Coming up: Closing Plenary - Looking to the future

12:43
04.10.2022
Time: 3 p.m. (UK BST)

Hosted by
IIED, the Climate Justice Resilience Fund, the Global Resilience Partnership, Practical Action and Care International.

Our closing plenary will round off the conference and pull together the central messages from our two days of discussions.

This year, we focussed on putting the principles for locally led adaptation into practice.  We want to ensure that the perspectives of people on the frontline are heard at the highest levels.

Find out about some of the key conversations held during CBA16 and hear reflections from high-level speakers about what these mean for COP27.

This will be the last chance to influence CBA16’s key messages, which will be shared at the Resilience Hub, the Development and Climate Days, Gobeshona and beyond.

See you soon!

Session 14: LLA and Loss and Damage

11:55
04.10.2022
The Loss and Damage Youth Coalition (LDYC) is a network of young people from the global North and South who have come together to demand action on addressing Loss and Damage caused by climate change.

Paul Chukwuma, LDYC Communications Coordinator, said attempts to estimate the monetary cost of loss and damage show that the cost is huge, but there's very little available finance.  He spoke about how to generate more action on Loss and Damage. LDYC aims to drive action through:
  •  Advocacy and awareness-raising;
  •  Building the capacity of global youth on loss and damage, including through project management; and
  • Promoting youth participation in decision-making around loss and damage.
