Kilion Nyambuga of SDI-Kenya said that for LLA to be successful, community groups must be at the centre of processes and engaged right from the start.
SDI-Kenya brings together local groups from cities and towns working to improve the lives of slum dwellers and urban poor people. Engagement includes identifying their adaption needs and generating their own data related to those needs. The community’s vision for how they see their own future must be integral to the process.
The slide below, "Re-imagining Communities", illustrates how a community group from Kibera, Nairobi imagines the transformation of their community away from waste and pollution to healthy, thriving ecosystems.
