After the „thermal simulation“ we will now continue with a presentation about the challenges for joining aluminium and copper, the influence of the interface morphology on the aging behavior and current approaches.

Anna Regensburg and Prof. Dr. Jean Pierre Bergmann from the Technical University Ilmenau will guide us through the topic.

„We are now able to choose the thinnest cables at a very early stage of our development“, explains Mr. Hübner the result of their thermal simulation.
„For example we can process dynamic power profiles and handle axial thermal flows right from the beginning of our development.“

This has already led to the use of thinner cables in a few Mercedes models, which helps to create better electric cars and thereby helps the environment, as Mr. Hübner states.

He invites everyone to join DAIMLER in their efforts to create a new standard which could be applied for all suppliers and across all OEMs.
