Mohamed Yarrow, Nexus Somalia, spoke about how Somalia, a country highly affected by this climate crisis, is supporting anticipatory humanitarian action at the local level. They did this by:
- Including anticipatory humanitarian as one of their key strategic pillar
- Operationalising this ambition this year by developing a anticipatory fund hosted by their local members (the first locally led and owned consortium)
The fund is available to respond to small and medium shocks at the local level - it has a response window of 60 days and value of 80,000 Euro. It ensures strong engagement of communities and local partners. In the long term they want the government to embed this fund and they are supporting the government to build their capacity and institutions to do so.
