Luc Mériochaud started as a trainee at
Deutsche Bank 25 years ago and later worked at Goldman Sachs and McKinsey. Since 2015 he is back at
Deutsche Bank as the Managing Director/Head of Innovation and now interviewed by our moderator
Céline Flores Willers.
Has
Deutsche Bank already blockchain technology into production?
„Blockchain technology has a lot of potential for changing and influencing the industry“, Mériochaud replies. „But I still often find that the real value is not within the technology itself but in combining it with other existing technologies and processes.“
What is the role of the bank in the future and will we do banking exclusively online in the future?
If we ask our customers, their feedback tells us that they need less and less offline services. But for a premium bank we always have the need to offer personal advice, explains Mériochaud. As an example he mentions a new branch here in Berlin at the Friedrichstraße which has just recently been opened. There they created a new way to talk to their customers by installing a coffee corner. „Many of us were surprised by the fact how openly our clients were discussing their financial situation in an open space“ – something quite contradictory to the conventional branch of a bank.
