Dr. Marc Nalbach is Head of Service Function Electrics/Electronics at Claas.
„The modern farmer is highly automated and digitally connected. The farming industry has build autonomous driving vehicles already for a couple of years“, opens Dr. Nalbach. The onboard technology is equipped with a lot of cameras, sensors and computers.
The requirements of a farming vehicle can be describe as extreme: Shock and vibrations, dust and dirt as well as chemical resistance are more demanding than for conventional cars. But also when it comes to high voltage power systems, the requirements go further than in the automotive industry. Dr. Nalbach shows a trailer which is equipped with a battery that charges the main vehicle while driving over a power cable. For an application like this the HV connection has to be ultra robust and electronical safe during the full operation mode.
