Reem Alabali Radovan calls for a clear commitment to international law, saying partners in the Global South are closely watching how Germany and other Western states act. In the Hannah Arendt Room, she says that people recognise politicians judge differently when it comes to the war in Iran or the attack on Venezuela andn that undermines trust in the United Nations. Europe must strengthen the United Nations and show that international institutions are effective, otherwise, the Global South will lose faith in international law for good. This is the only way that humanitarian suffering and wars can be prevented worldwide. -nk
