Ron Hirson, CEO of DocuSign, takes a different approach today – he talks directly to the start-ups in the audience. And he gives some advices for start-ups:
- Decision velocity: whatever discussions are important – make them as fast as possible. Even if decisions are wrong, they push your company ahead.
- Create an advisory board: If you build up a team around you as a founder, looking for experts in fields like HR or finance, they help you grow as a leader and are interested in your growth, too
- Find a purpose: Be like Al gore – if you have a mission like to save the planet, you can invest in companies trying that, too – and that makes your own plans more meaningful and important.
While DocuSign itself fights the useless waste of paper - by making it possible to sign with their technology - not every start-up or company might have this meaningful purpose in itself. But Hirson recommends to find it outside - in work for the community or by engaging in social activities, thus making work itself more meaningful.
