Here are some points emerging from this session on collaboration:

To make consortia work, we need to understand each other's operational constraints, including
  • the red lines
  • the limits of each organisation's influence
  • and the practical constraints, such as travel.
Irene Amuron from the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre talked about agreeing the key ingredients:

"The saying usually goes 'too many cooks spoil the soup', but I like to say 'too many cooks spice up the soup'!

"Those spices can be a bit too much or too powerful, so we need to agree on what spices we put in; that's how a successful collaboration happens."

Stefania Giodini, Head of Water Climate Environment at NL Red Cross, emphasised the importance of starting with open conversations:

"When consortium members find each other on a common goal, having a conversation at the beginning on what they want to achieve, this is when the work comes together to accelerate the resilience of communities to the inevitable effects of climate change."
