Session preview: 3A: Adaptation finance in uncertain times

10:30
30.10.2025
With dramatic changes in the global finance landscape, funders need to think innovatively about how they deliver support for adaptation.

We will crowdsource questions from participants and ask climate funders from government and philanthropies what they think it takes to overcome the financial and political constraints we're all facing.

Speakers:
  • Saliha Dobardzic - Lead, Programming and Innovation Unit, the Adaptation Fund
  • Gerard Howe - Deputy Director, Climate Resilience Department, Energy, Climate and Environment Directorate at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office
  • Arghya Sinha Roy - Director, Climate Change (Climate Change Adaptation) at the Asian Development Bank
  • Ramona Calin - Locally-led Climate Action Specialist, Green Climate Fund
  • Anna Heath - Senior Programmes Manager, Synchronicity Earth

Join us to explore better ways of working together going forward - 11:00 GMT.

How we'll explore today's themes

10:12
30.10.2025
D&C Days themes link to the COP30 themes. Here's a quick recap of how our speakers describe today's themes:

1 Scaling locally led approaches to climate action
We'll explore what is different or new about localisation.

To be successful, adaptation must be context-specific and locally led. This theme will drill down on key, actionable examples of what LLA looks like in real life. What's happening on the ground and how it can be replicated.

"Local actors need to be at the centre of how the Global Goal on Adaptation is delivered."

2 Financing resilience
Finance is hot! With just a few days to COP, we'll hear about new pledges, private money. We'll be discussing strateis from a new and engaging angle: not just getting more money into the system, but getting it to the right place at the right time to increase resilience.

"Where money meets meaning!"

3 Innovation for transformation
The innovation theme is using innovative approaches to engage the D&C Days audience and speakers! For example, we will use a reverse panel, where participants collaborate in a breakout room to come up with the questions they want to ask our panel.

"Today is all about finding creative solutions."
