Quantitative risk assessments require diverse data, GIS tools, and expertise. Due to climate change, assessing rapidly changing conditions and integrating local knowledge – often qualitative – is crucial but challenging. We will share our experience integrating local knowledge in a Pakistan Anticipatory Action project for Indus Floods.

Addressing climate-risks through local DRR: lessons from Honduras, Indonesia and Somalia

14:06
27.03.2025
ASB, in partnership with arche noVa and the German Toilet Organization, is implementing a GFFO-funded global project to strengthen climate-sensitive, inclusive WASH services. The project builds local resilience by enhancing community capacities to prepare for and respond to extreme weather events. This session showcased experiences from three countries:
Honduras: Training community members in rainfall monitoring for early drought warnings.
Indonesia: Conducting climate risk assessments with local governments, aligned with DRR plans.
Somalia: Community-led climate risk assessments and preparedness in a fragile context.
Participants discussed practical approaches and challenges in integrating climate risks into disaster preparedness.
