In her first contribution, panelist Ljudmyla Melnyk pays tribute to Egon Bahr's way of thinking: "He thought out of the box." However, she questions the extent to which Bahr's thought processes have evolved sufficiently to provide answers to the current situation. "Sometimes we think that Egon Bahr's approach can apply forever," she says. However, times have changed. Now, her wish is: "Don't just focus on change through rapprochement, but also analyze social developments in the countries." -ls

Putin has miscalculated several times, says Jean Asselborn. "He wanted to mock NATO, but he strengthened it. He wanted to conquer Ukraine and is now stuck for the foreseeable future. He didn't understand that smartphone images travel around the world in a second." And now he sees that Russians are also unwilling to accept the bombings, the dead women and children, the war itself. -mb
