Erwann Fillol (GIS Officer at the Regional Office for West and Central Africa Action Against Hunger ACF) is presenting the Action Against Hunger project "Pastoral Early Warning System (PEWS)". There are two essential pillars  of the pastoral early warning system which are:
  1. Eary Warning  (Monitoring the instant biomass production in rainy season and comparison with the average)
  2. Surveillance (Real-time monitoring of pastor resources and the pastoral situation)

The system shows next to predictions for example also historical data which compares the biomass production with the years before. With the help of different charts, different coherences can be found.

The next steps of the "Pastoral Early Warning System (PEWS)" will be increasing the density in covered countries as well as diversifying the collected information to monitor for examples bush fires as well.
