Interior, electronics and infotainment will become more important

With Mobility-as-a-Service, most cars will be grouped within fleets. For Prof. Nazareth this means, that those cars will have an identical inner life and must be easy to maintain.
„When you’re looking at the aviation industry, you will notice that airplanes are ordered stripped down and then only later equipped with the interiors and infotainment by the airline.“

This observation leads Prof. Nazareth to the following conclusion: Wire harness will be split in three.
1. A High voltage wire harness for the drive train,
2. a specific wire harness for raw, stripped down cars (chassis & car body) and
3. a wire harness for interior and infotainment.

How Mobility-as-a-Service will change the vehicle and the production

Next up is Prof. Dr. Dieter Nazareth from the Landshut University of Applied Sciences.

He opens his presentation by talking about the four important changes for the automotive sector: Connected, Autonomous Driving, Electrification and Mobility-as-a-Service.
„Connected and autonomous driving is not disruptive change. Instead these are just a new additional layer which offer new functionalities. The electrification means change and allows new companies and start-ups to enter the market. But the biggest disruption will come from Mobility-as-a-Service. Not the ownership of a car will be important in the future, but the wish to reach a certain destination for a decent price, within a given time and comfort.“
