This story begins in 1945. After the horrors of World War II, Arthur Ringland and Dr. Lincoln Clark approached 22 American charities to propose a non-profit corporation to funnel food packages from Americans to loved ones in Europe. And with that, CARE was born.
Today, CARE is working in over 100 countries, reaching more than 90 million people through 1,300 projects in their fight against global poverty and world hunger. In addition, CARE advocates education and job opportunities for girls and women around the world. Today, 131 million girls are missing out on school, and girls are 50% more likely to lose the opportunity for education than boys.
