tado° – Saving the Planet with Smart Energy

14.06.2019
Toon Bouten is the ceo of the Munich based smart home startup. The company was founded in 2011 and is based on three business pillars:

First and historically most importantly is the hardware. tado° offers smart thermostats and smart AC controls.
With their hardware, old heating installations become smart and connected to the internet within minutes.

The second pillar is called „skills“. With these skills, the heating installations become intelligent. There are geo fencing functions which will turn on the heating if a customer leaves the office on the evening or an air analysis which gives customers insights into the quality of the air inside and outside the home and advice them when to open the window.

The third and probably most interesting pillar are the data driven services: „We have over 100,000s of installations from which we get a lot of data – every few seconds.“
Build on that data tado° can e.g. predict maintenance cycles. For utility companies tado° offers maintenance as a service or heating as a service.

Bouten closes with the mission of the startup: „‚There is no Planet B’, we need to save energy wherever we can.“

Coople - providing Workforce on Short Notice

14.06.2019
Viktor Calabro (Founder & Executive Chairman) is now presenting Coople, his staffing platform which launched in 2009 in Switzerland. As a disrupter of the industry, Coople helps companies to find the matching staff on short notice, making it easier to manage their peaks in demand.

"Let me give you some numbers. We cover shifts within 4 hours. Therefore we have more than 350.000 workers in Europe", Calabro introduces his company. But Coople doesn't just aim to provide the workforce for companies but also approaches a better work-life-balance for those workers by "making flexible work easy, reliable and fulfilling". Coople is the employer for this pool of flexible workers, they recruit and hire them, process their payment and makes sure all work rights are considered. This allows their clients to drastically reduce the amount of time and cost spent on HR administration tasks.
Major problems that Coople handles for their clients are providing staff for seasonal peaks in hospitality or inventories in sales for instance.
