E/E System know-how at Universities

13:32
27.03.2019
One topic that multiple speakers mentioned during the last two days were the issue of hiring qualified employers. We’ve seen that the wire harness will play an increasingly important role as all automotive mega trends require further development from wiring harness developers.

That’s why the last presentation of the conference is given by professors from three different universities:
  • Prof. Dr. Christian Birkner
Research Professor, CARISSMA at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt Prof.
  • Dr. Mathias Rausch
Course Leader of Vehicle Electrical Distribution Systems Development University of Applied Sciences Landshut
  • Robert Süß-Wolf
Director Wiring Systems, Institute FAPS at Friedrich-Alexander-University (FAU)
They explain how universities and the industry are creating a network for the wire harness development and how their education is structured: Wire harness technology from research to series in theory and practice.
All participants are encouraged to engage in the dialogue with the universities and their researchers.

Dr. Frommberger looks at the future of smart wiring and what to expect:

  1. Sensors within the power and data network allow condition monitoring and new system diagnostics
  2. Prognostics and predictive maintenance is enabled by digital models and analytics running on edge devices
  3. High transparency of system usage profiles and cloud analytics allow efficient engineering and an optimized system layout as well as services
