The winning of the new government in the 14th General Election, has created a spark of hope for freedom in the country. Inside their manifesto, Pakatan Harapan promises to revoke draconian laws that previously have been misused by the authority, including the Sedition Act, Prevention of Crime Act, Printing Presses and Publication Act, as well as mandatory death sentence by hanging. They also promise to ensure press freedom and will review all regulations related to the media and establish a Media Council, who is responsible to develop  and implement  a  code  of  ethics  on  reporting  and  function  as  a  hisbah  body  for public complaints.
