The parity between female and male candidates has fallen since the last election. In 2023 just 42.8% of candidates are women, compared to 46% in 2018.

Election poster vandalism raises concerns

Campaigning in Luxembourg is generally a rather quiet affair. But déi Gréng in the run-up to today’s vote filed a complaint with police after an election poster for the party’s candidate for prime minister, Sam Tanson, appeared to have been shot through the head. During the local elections campaign, unknown suspects had placed a dead cat at the foot of a Greens election poster in Echternach.
