Theresa and I split up to take different paths from Barcelona to Valencia. While she attempted to cycle there all the way, I suddenly had lots of space in our DriveYourLife van and therefore picked up 3 other people to give them a ride. I'm glad I took them along, as my 4h drive was for sure much more entertaining with them, and they inspired me to walk the Camino de Santiago one day!
[Theresa] I bought a bike and rode from Barcelona to Tarragona. The journey was 100 km but felt much longer as various obstacles added to the journey and essentially doubled the Google Maps predicted time. There were so many turns it seemed like I was pulling out my phone to check which way to go more often than actually pedaling, and the times I thought I could rely on my instincts, they often ended up taking me in the wrong direction: I had to drag my bike across multiple (nude) beaches for over an hour before I was able to reach solid ground again. The main lesson learned: don’t trust Google Maps but also don’t trust your directional abilities if you’re a Gen Z.
