Welcome back! In the next part of the programme, Prof. Celeste Saulo, First Vice-President of WMO, Director of the Argentinean National Meteorological Service, and Full Professor at the University of Buenos Aires, launched the WMO’s newly expanded Guidelines on Multi-hazard Impact-based Forecast and Warning Services. She explained the importance of igniting partnerships between national meteorological services and humanitarian actors: “We can learn from all over the world.”

“When you have to communicate which impact the weather will have, you have to think of the full complexity,” continued Prof. Saulo. “The vulnerability of everyone is different.” The impacts are also always different. For example, heat waves affect older people more severely than others.

Partnerships are also crucial, because they help us to achieve more. “No one can do this alone,” concluded Prof. Saulo. “You can have the best weather service or agency - [but] if they don’t work together, the population does not get the best of it.”
