What are the updates and where are heading in Western Africa?
Luca Parodi, Early Warning Early Action Regional Specialist from FAO, presents the key takeaways from breakout to the plenary. There are several actors working in this space and there have been many developments in the last year. The main needs for the future of the region lie in increasing coordination and collaboration across the region. Establishing working groups, regional training, and regional advocacy will lead to shared lessons and tools. The commonalities across hazards and contexts can help improve anticipation across the whole region. Also, there have been major requests to increase AA on floods from the level of partners and donors, but gaps in the early-warning capacities still remain.
