What might be the feasibility of FbF in the Southern Africa region? Well, feasibility was done within various research groups and people were excited by what it means to do anticipatory action for drought. So, in developing guidance for this emerging topic, our approach was centered around building understanding of recent climate trends, understanding that food security impacts can be dominated by the long-term trends, recognising that community, national and international response can mask the relationships between rainfall & food insecurity. In addition, we needed to understand that new products such as GEOGLAM can be promising but limited data makes verification of impacts difficult.
