In her Ignite on global updates on anticipation,
Stefanie Lux, Anticipation Lead of German Red Cross, highlighted the first ever activations of the FbA by the DREF in 2020, in Mongolia, Bangladesh, Ecuador, and Mozambique. She further highlighted the increased engagement of UN OCHA, which now allocates funding for early action through OCHA's CERF fund. This enabled for example a successful joint activation in Bangladesh in 2020, reaching 276500 people in total. Stefanie further highlighted that anticipation tackled "new" hazards like volcanic ashflow and locust infestation in 2020, and mentioned that 2020, with hazards like flood, locusts and Covid coinciding at the same time, showed that anticipation needs to take more account of compound risk.
