Assuming Early Warning Systems (EWS) have been set up to facilitate humanitarian relief efforts, how do they fit with the needs of the vulnerable populations? In order to be able to set up EWS that reach affected populations and enable action, we need to understand what is understood by risk, and how people typically respond to it.
“Risk perception is important, but we need to focus on the behaviour. We need to figure out what encourages and hinders certain actions,“ says Claire Boswell of Food for the Hungry.
We need to build our actions around these questions to enable more people to understand risk and act accordingly.
