This session serves to kickstart the discussion on which topics the Earth Observation Working Group should focus on and which partnerships to build on. This is in support of the launch of the Anticipation Hub. The exchanges between the FbF practitioners and earth observation data are very important for meaningful anticipatory action.
The 510 data team of the NL RC society makes humanitarian work more effective by using satellite data, including detecting placing and materials used for roofs and walls, indicating where to provide assistance to repair damaged houses, and flood and impact assessments. Group discussions indicate several key findings, one of which is that weather station and behavioural data need to be complemented with earth observation data.
Further information and contact details for the Earth Observation Working Group can be found on the Anticipation Hub website.
