Fredrick emphasised the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ continued support for flexible funding that tackles the interconnections between climate, conflict and food security.
He also highlighted the growing gap between humanitarian needs and funding.

Panel There are three types of urgencies that we need to address. First, we need to embrace the very essence of anticipatory action (AA). This is an urgent plea because our new normal is becoming more intense and complex. Second, we need to expand the AA horizon. Most of our AA projects focus on the short term, but we need focus on the adaptive and transformative capacities of communities. We need to expand AA into the medium and long term, across sectors, and mainstream it into sub-national systems, policies, as well as DRR/DRM climate change policies and plans. They are all interconnected. Third, we need to scale up AA (..) at all levels, with a wider spectrum of stakeholders, and at the same time.
