Participants tried to NOT talk about the weather and… they kind of failed!
However, wow did they deliver on “anything and everything else” that could be done using an anticipatory approach! Ever thought about anticipating measles; election violence in Tanzania; conflict, displacement and their consequences on agriculture and livelihoods; or the secondary COVID-19 impacts such as on education or gender outcomes?
Our speakers addressed a variety of important emerging themes in anticipatory action.

Keynote: Reimagining futures

Thought-provoking presentation from Aarathi

Aarathi Khrisnan (UNDP, Strategy and Foresight Advisor) gave a thought-provoking presentation about reimagining humanitarian futures for human flourishing.
She talked about making futures more equitable and just, building anti-fragility, building uncertainty into all layers of policy, and taking an interconnected systems approach. She asked how we can design digital policy for humanitarian purposes that does not lock affected populations into future indebtedness or future inequity, thus challenging us to think about how future humanitarian digital policy can avoid being a colonised vector.
She also cautioned us to think about what has to gracefully exit, or die, so that that the right thing can live and flourish in the future.
