Every year, the region is affected by dozens of extreme weather events, such as tropical cyclones, floods, droughts, volcanic eruptions, displacement and diseases. The COVID-19 pandemic affected the Asia-Pacific region greatly, affecting the lives and livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of people. In this context, the AA activations in Mongolia and Bangladesh, as well as simulations of early actions in the Philippines, are great successes that act as an example for AA collaboration and scale up that can inform the next level of AA implementations in Asia-Pacific.
