In her opening words, Alexandra Rüth, Head of the soon to be launched Anticipation Hub highlights how the Hub aims to support Anticipatory Action in Africa. The Hub will serve as a knowledge and exchange platform that aims to facilitate regular discussions between practitioners and researchers, which at the moment often mostly happen during events like the Dialogue Platforms. By sharing experiences and lessons learned and fostering collaboration on emerging topics, the Hub wants to stimulate learning, innovation, and exchange. The Hub, according to Alexandra, will also help connecting the dots between those seeking guidance and support on anticipatory action projects, and those who can advise them and strengthen the joint advocacy efforts on anticipatory action by working on shared messages and advocacy tools. Alexandra Rüth: “Our voice is louder and our messages are clearer and stronger when we speak together.

The Hub will be launched on the 19th of November, and Rüth invites everyone to contribute their knowledge and materials. Get in touch with Alexandra and the Regional Focal Points of the Hub Jurg and Phoebe using the Meet and Greet and Chat functions to find out more.

Anticipatory Action in Africa is growing year by year thanks to the wide array of projects and programmes being implemented by the multiple partners involved in this platform, including the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, the START Network, the UN World Food Programme, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, UN OCHA and donors, such as the German Federal Foreign Office and the European Commission, who are supporting this event here today.
