Back to the question of the beginning: "What is needed to strengthen multi-hazard early warning systems in the context of COVID-19 and climate change?" The tag cloud shows three words very clearly:
  • coordination
  • collaboration
  • cooperation

"We are all connected, that should strenghten everything - but the pandemic brings new circumstances", explains Siahaan. Every new information need to be understood, so everyone sees the risks. Early warning has to be connected to funding and more to work better and have the best impact.

"It's important that we are looking on long-term patterns and changes in temperature or humidity", Dr Michael Ryan stresses. Short term predictions and warnings are very important but they aren't the only thing we need to focus on. There are patterns, long-term climate trends are driving pandemic developments interfacing with longterm social-economic changes. "We have to look at the whole thing in the long and the short term. That's going to take building platforms together " he emphasizes the need of having access to data.
