When Prof. Dr. Hasso Plattner, Co-Founder and Chairman of SAP, had the vision of a tech café for entrepreneurs in 2013, he defined the first retail concept for the 40+ year old company.
Instead of launching a store where SAP would sell its software products or promote related services, he suggested that SAP’s first footprint in the retail space should serve the community of tech innovators with an inspiring meeting environment, anchored by a world-class coffee shop.
He also decided that the first of these cafes should be established on University Ave in Palo Alto – the hotspot of innovation, right in the heart of Silicon Valley.
HanaHaus was born - in affinity of SAP’s core development platform Hana and the German word Haus reflecting the Bauhaus art school which was established in Germany in the 1920s.
Between 1000-2000 people visit HanaHaus daily – most of them spend time at the coffee shop / about 10-15% percent make reservations in the workspace for several hours. No other place in downtown Palo Alto connects locals and visitors easier than HanaHaus.
We are visiting HanaHaus on Tuesday, 10th April.
