„Your product is ready to fly and you’re just sitting here waiting for the regulation process to be done“, explains Marco Rodzynek the situation of Volocopter. „How long do you think it will take you to actually go up in the air with customers?“

„We’re going through a certification process that is the same as applied to Boing or Airbus“, answers Griemens. In Europe the company hopes to start flying in five years but in the United States he expects the process to take much longer. „The US are five years behind the European authority EASA.“

So how big is the market?
„There are a lot of startups in the early stages, but we believe that the challenge will be to go beyond the prototype stage and get the thing flying“, answers Griemens.

He shares estimation from an analyst who thinks the overall market potential is around three trillion (!) plus.

Another company aiming at the similar market is Volocopter. Renata Jungo Brüngger represents the perspective of the investor DAIMLER and Rene Griemens Volocopter's vision. Both discuss with our host Marco Rodzynek.

Marco's first question: Will new forms of transportation be cheaper?
"I don't think that it will become cheaper in the next years. It will cost more but be also much more efficient", answers Jungo Brüngger. In doing so she hopes that new ways of transportations will improve the living quality in the cities.
