The GLC-platform is shared by four different cars. In order to make this happen, the engineers had to harmonize the platform and the wire harness base. For this harmonization they did not only work with the given platform but instead had to be part of the design development of the general platform.

But not only the early engagement in the platform development is necessary for this harmonization. Daimler has created something, that Dr. König calls a "wire harness database powerhouse". The name of the "toolbox" is CONNECT and includes capabilities such as Digital Checks, Digital Twins, KBL, Picture Database and many others.

The next step: From GLC via EQ-C to C A S E

Our next presentation is given by Dr. Rainer König, Senior Manager Wire Harness and DMU at Daimler. His topic: The successful transformation from the Merced GLC to the EQ and finally to C A S E.

The wire harness development is faced with an increased complexity, due to changed requirements. This leads to a transformation for the workflow and development process, explains Dr König. „A digital development environment has to ensure, that engineers around the world can work and further develop 24hours.“
This approach shall meet requirements such as an increase and development speed while cutting costs.
