Reduced complexity

"We tried to keep the wiring harness simple and tried to reduce the complexity" – a difficult task for an electric car. But in comparison to combustion engine driven cars, EVs have some advantages too, there are for example less variations than with a combustion engine with it’s different motors and gear units.

To give an impression, Schmid drops a few numbers:
  • KSK interior: 274 Modules
  • KSK Cockpit: 36 Modules
  • Autarkic: 272 Variants
  • B(+)-Line: Integrated

Our second day here in Ludwigsburg starts with the Audi e-tron. Werner Schmid, SE Team Leader Wiring System will talk about the vehicle, the concept, HV topology and the construction of the wiring package.

The e-tron is an electric vehicle without compromise. The SUV is capable of going off-road, dragging a trailer and has a range of 417km – it’s a machine that is simply fun to drive, as Schmid explains:
„Even if the technology of EVs is predestinated for autonomous driving, EVs can also be great cars to drive“.

The system features two electric motors, one for the front and one for the rear wheels. The S version comes with an additional third rear e-motor.
