Did you know that the official name is actually neither football nor soccer but “association football”?
Of course “association football World Cup” never really became a thing, but the terms “soccer” and “football” still show were you are from: if you use “soccer”, you’re probably from the US or at least Canada. If you use “football” or a translation of it – well, than you are from everywhere else on the world!
Yet, for this live-blog we decided to use “soccer”, not only to welcome the many American guests, but also to make it clear that we are not talking about American football and the current Super Bowl. By the way: “soccer” is actually the abbreviation of “association (football)” and thus somehow having both terms in it. One thing is for sure: it doesn’t matter if it is called football or soccer, it is a great game and a even better motto for Teradata's kick-off!
