Tandem – listening to the customer needs

„Banking is early on the adoption curve, it is ripe for disruption“, opens Ricky Knox from Tandem. „Unlike UBER or spotify banks were not designed to solve customer problems.“
"We are pretty different from our competitors", explains Knox. It builds up around the needs and wishes of the costumer.
That’s why at Tandem they did over 400 customer interviews in the beginning. It turned out that, paying fees and charges abroad were an issue – but even more important was the issue of running out of money at the end of a month. „Over 30% of the population in UK is running out of money at least once per year.“

Tandems answer to these demands is a tool which should help customers foresee upcoming bills and calculating their credit card payments. By using this service customers see, how much money is left to spend. If needed, Tandem will give some credit. Another example Knox mentions: „People find it really difficult to save money.“ So Tandem is soon introducing another service which should help customers saving money for their goals.

That resulted in a huge growth in the number of costumers.

Nickolay Storonsky, Founder and CEO Revolut, talks about the goal of Revolut – it is to create a radically better account. This should be achieved by offering:

  • free multi-currency accounts;
  • multiple cards with next generation security;
  • budgeting controls;
  • save your spare money;
  • insurance products for smart phones.
"Expanding into new sections - and markets - is one of the current goals of Revolut", explains Storonsky - and that is only the goal for the next months.

The service has 3M+ users, without paid marketing as Storonsky points out.
On a daily base the service has 350.000+ users.
