Why should universities embrace esports? In Lisa's opinion, esports encourages a social atmosphere in college, motivates students to attend class and keep grade ups (like NCAA athletess) and may elicit professional behaviour by playing games. Furthermore, most of these programs pay for themelves - UC Irvine had sponsorship deals from $25-$100K.
