Freedom Barometer is a comparative index, which offers a way to measure freedom from a liberal perspective. It is published by the Regional Office of Friedrich Naumann Foundation for East and Southeast Europe.
The Freedom Barometer is the only index that combines so many aspects of freedom, covering political and economic freedom and the rule of law. Political freedom is comprised of the following dimensions: free and fair elections, the absence of unconstitutional veto players, press freedom. Economic freedom is comprised of the following dimensions: Security of property rights; the size of government (expenditures, taxes, enterprises); regulation of credit, labour and business; freedom to trade internationally. By the rule of law Freedom Barometer measures independence of the judiciary, corruption, protection of human rights. For more, click here.
